The blue overseas cap is a Kriegsmarine enlistedmans officer upgrade cap. Lt. Engineer officer who was on U 181, Dieter Hille, gace this to me for my birthday in 2001. It was the cap he wore. He had to buy an overseas cap at the Kriegsmarine depot in Lorient, France--before they set sail on one of their longest war patrols heading to their Pacific base to join the 10th U Flotille based there under the command of Kapitan Zur See Wilhelm Dommes. This cap was the only style available at the time of purchase which was why he had to buy it-and have it upgraded.
