2.2-mile pickoff of ISIS fighter.... :salute: :salute:

A Canadian sniper set what appears to be a record, picking off an ISIS fighter from some 2.2 miles away, and disrupting a potentially deadly operation by the terror group in Iraq.

Shooting experts say the fatal shot at a world-record distance of 11,316 feet underscores how stunningly sophisticated military snipers are becoming. The feat, pulled off by a special forces sniper from Canada’s Joint Task Force 2, smashed the previous distance record for successful sniper shots by some 3,280 feet, a record set by a British sniper.

“ ... the true challenge here was being able to calculate the actual wind speed and direction all the way to the target.”
- Ryan Cleckner, former U.S. Army Ranger sniper

Canadian Sniper Breaks World Record with two-mile shot

A Canadian soldier killed an ISIS militant from two miles away in Iraq last month, breaking the world record for longest confirmed kill. The Globe and Mail reports the shooter was a member of Joint Task Force 2 and he made the historic shot from a high-rise building. The sniper used a McMillian TAC-50 sniper rifle and it took the bullet under 10 seconds to hit its target. The Globe and Mail reports the kill was verified by video

Great shot indeed!!!!!!!!!! I read that it took the bullet ten seconds to travel that distance-and for him (the sniper) to be THAT good--he's more than earned my fullest respect............

Proud moment of Canadian precision shooters right there.

I wonder what Carlos Hathcocks and Chris Kyles longest shots were? I know not as long as these.

Heading off topic for this info carl.. :)
John W. "Jack" Hinson, "Old Jack" (1807–1874) was a farmer in Stewart County, Tennessee who operated as a Confederate partisan sniper against Union forces in the Between-the-Rivers region of Tennessee and Kentucky during the American Civil War.

Between 1862 and 1865, the Union army of the American Civil War were terrorised by an unseen foe; a shadowy figure who could kill a commander in the midst of a group of soldiers and slip away again, evading capture and death to strike another target with deadly precision.
Union soldiers weren't safe on land or on water, and four divisions of men were sent to bring this assassin in. But he evaded them all. In fact, this one-man war disappeared from even the pages of history; his home forgotten, his life erased from the pages of his family history so that even his descendants can only speculate about him. Until now.
Jack Hinson, 57, was strictly neutral in the civil war until Union soldiers beheaded his two sons, suspected of bushwhacking. His world destroyed, Hinson vowed to avenge his sons. He commissioned a special rifle, said farewell to his family, and took to the hills. Without any formal military training, and no organised support from the Confederate Army, Hinson carved circles on his gun barrel, 36 in total- one for every confirmed kill he made. In reality there were more than 100 men who fell under the barrel of his .50 calibre rifle, and despite all attempts to bring him in Hinson was never caught, and outlived the war.

I wonder of he is the one mentioned in the snipers list (unnamed) though?? That's a great bit of info you have there Ray. :-)) Most men who were Confederates were farmers-aka "Country boys--who knew how to use their riflles with deadly accuracy. Most who were yankees--were city boys who knew next to nothing about guns--which is partly why the always out-numbered Johnny Rebs-always kicked Billy Yank asses. :D :D
