Remind me by a kick in the nuts to look in every book I have (in between double-shift work schedule) to glean any unit numbers. I have Mitchams updated book-and another at home. :salute:

OK, a STuG unit with 197 does exist. :tank: :tank:

Sturmartillerie Abt 197-later Schwere STuG Bde 197 then still later designated Schwere STuG abt 653.

I'm skipping dates and such as my battery is about dead but here is the skinny:

Silesia.
Then attached to 132nd I.D for the invasion of Yugoslavia. Transferred to Glatz then Zamosc, Poland.

48th Pz?? Korps, 1st Panzer Group. Army Group Center.

46th Korps (Inf??) 6th Army, A.G. South.

58th Korps, 17th Army, then 11th Army, then assigned to 54th Korps for the initial attacks on Sebastopol-supporting 24th Inf Div.

Transferred to 7th Korps, 2nd Army (Veronezh) then to 53rd Korps, 2nd Panzer Army (Orel) 2nd Panzer Army, A.G. Center.

Then later transferred to STuG Abt 270 moved to Juterbog and later finally redesignated PzJag Abt 653 at Bruck/Leitha.

Dunno if this is akkerate :D or not? but its on the internet-so MUST be true!!! :salute:
